There are no casinos within the Boston city limits.  However, there are all kinds of different neat sites you can use if you want to bet from Boston, or on the various sports teams that operate out of Boston. Just because you are in the Cradle of Liberty does not mean you should have to fly to Atlantic City to freely scratch your betting itch, after all. There are some really sweet sites you can check out, right from the comfort of your own home, at any time you want to give them a try.

For instance, American Bookies is a great site for placing a bet whenever you feel like it. It focuses on sports primarily, so if you are looking for online casino games you might want to hit up another site. But if you want to try your hand at betting on a Patriots game some time, this is definitely your one stop shop for doing so with ease. Apparently they even pay out more quickly than you can pay in; the only catch is that you have to win, so be sure to know what you’re doing before you put it all on a long shot.

Now, if you want to make use of a site where you can do the casino thing, the sports thing, and ride the ponies all the way to millionaire status, you should check out Real Bookie. They are a site where you can bet on just about everything that people usually bet on. They have your odds, let you place your bets online or over the phone, and they make it just about as convenient as it possibly could be, without you actually having to be there to pantomime what you want to bet on for the bookie to write down. Come to think of it, that would be pretty amusing, wouldn’t it?

A Historical Trip Around Boston

The city of Boston in Massachusetts is an integral part of America’s independence. Most people know the part that Boston played in the American Revolutionary War, so it is fitting that Boston tourist and visitors to Boston explore the historic significance of the city.

The Beauty of the Boston Harbor

Starting your journey at the Boston Harbor is a great way to delve into the history. This body of water is the site of the Boston Tea Party. Numerous American colonists destroyed tons of tea bricks as a way to rebel against Great Britain. Most historians agree that this event was the main catalyst of the American Revolutionary War. One of the most immediate consequences of the Boston Tea Party was the Boston Port Act.It required the British East India Company be compensated for the destroyed tea.

Boston tourist and visitors will see the Boston Harbor of today. It has been transformed from a commercial port to a bustling leisure area of the city. Today, visitors can experience a ferry ride at the Boston Harbor. While in the area, a visit to the Boston Tea Party Museum is a good place to view full size replicas of ships from the Boston Tea Party. Additionally, this harbor is surrounded by many islands. Visitors can enjoy the leisure activities on each of these islands.

Retrace the Steps of Paul Revere

After spending time on the harbor, a good next stop is The Freedom Trail. This is where the home of the famous Paul Revere is located. Few Americans are unaware of the role this legendary great played in the Revolutionary War. His midnight ride played a key part in the Lexington and Concord battles with the British. Paul Revere is counted as an American Revolutionary hero, and his home is the most visited when it comes to American Revolutionary historic sites.

Boston is a very compact city; therefore, it is easy to find a wonderful place to lodge in close proximity to the sites. Downtown Boston is a central hub for much of the historic richness of Boston. It is possible to view much of the great sites in a weekend if you stay in the downtown area.

An Uncommon Wealth of Americana

Any prepared visitor to the Greater Boston area will no doubt have an itinerary heavy with historical and prestigious landmarks listed under “must see”. Museums, libraries, posh learning institutions, and of course, Fenway. It’s the kind of town where you feel your IQ rising simply by breathing its air. Boston is, after all, the center of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Compare that to “The City of Duluth”. No offense to Duluth, of course, but what makes you feel more enlightened?

If you or one of your travel companions is feeling all high and mighty after a few days of strolling through the Ivy League and feel an urgent need to reconnect with the common people (instead of the high minded), there is a place. You only need to go north to Saugus. A mere half hour drive up Route 1 from Boston’s learned trap, Saugus is the perfect tonic for too much rational thought. Forget the road signs. You’ll know when you get there. Actually, you’ll know before you get there.

Is there not comfort in the anticipation triggered by a gigantic dinosaur standing guard over a golf course? How about the freakishly large and horrific signage for the “Golden Banana”, an establishment not recommended for the whole family.

There is also, in no discernible order, a giant fibreglass Santa Claus, a leaning tower that says “Pizza”, fibreglass cows, giant cactus signs, and a four-story ship that appears to be plowing into some sort of perpetually doomed village. And there is much, much more here in classic roadside Americana. Is there anything better? Who wouldn’t want a plate of “authentic” chow mein inside the world’s largest chinese restaurant? What could go wrong during a full sit down inside a giant straw building with an active volcano? As for the Full of Bull Restaurant or Karl’s Sausage Kitchen, you’re on your own. Packed with retro-goodness, Saugus is a kitsch lover’s paradise. One has to imagine the men and women of letters from Boston’s finest halls at least occasionally pulling north for a short road trip, just to get away from it all!
